The Exportation Business Guide by

Augustine Festus

Branding it perfectly, all this is a must do to get good clients

We do their exportation business without NEPC and they are very much okay at the moment. By the time they start exporting in large tons that’s only when they will start looking at having that certificate. You only need to register with NEPC especially if you’re exporting in large quantity of tons to big firms in abroad. However, this information is for those who want to start from small scale to large scale like me. If you’re in this category then good to have you here.

So You can start small and grow the business

Taking Nigeria as an example, we are a country blessed with natural resources, oil products, cocoa, different varieties of food

ffs and plantations. Going international with these products which are in hot demand is absolutely rewarding in terms of profit and personal acknowledgements

Starting your exportation business in Nigeria isn’t usually as easy as people hype it to be. There is a lot you need to put in place in order to start a successful exportation business. International business is one of the most profitable businesses in Nigeria, Owing to the fact that it will expose you to a whole new larger market. And if your export products are legit and sound, boom……there you go.

You will definitely have return customers coming back to order and request for your business. *Honest and Good Reputation is the key behind all successful Export business owners in Nigeria*

Do you know that you can become an exporter of Agro Allied Products to other countries without you registering with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC)? Oh Yes you get hear me right! As a starter you don’t necessary need it!

YOU DON’T NEED ANY QUALIFICATION TO DO THIS BUSINESS

This is great business for students, civil servants, employers, unemployed, housewives etc. You don’t need any special qualification or experienced to become part of this Agro exportation Business and this is the basic truth many people will not like to disclose to you. All you need is the required information and that information is what I will be giving you here FREE.

After today I doubt if you’ll still need to attend any Seminar again. In the past I’ve attended numerous seminars, bought lots of materials, but none worked for me until I got the rightful information through someone who is truly into the business big time. Let me shock you, do you know that most people organizing these seminars for Exportation Business are not fully into it? Yes, that’s true!

THE FIVE (5) GOLDEN REQUIREMENTS YOU NEED FOR AGRO EXPORTATION AND ALSO LEARN HOW I MAKE MY MONEY FROM THIS BUSINESS

If you’re good in buying and selling of goods and services, then you’re good to go for this Agro Exportation Business. Believe me there’s no big deal in exportation business. It’s a business I am into and that’s why am telling you this. You don’t need a professional to tutor you as you might be thinking.

I will be giving out some contacts later

Firstly

1: ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILL OF BUYING AND SELLING: It’s very simple! With an Exportation Website or blog a client contacts you for a product and all you have to do is to source for the very products and get it delivered to him/her in respective of the country of destination.

You don’t need to be a farmer, expert in the agricultural field before you can start Agro Exportation Business. Now, this is what I do; I have an Exportation Website and when I get an Order to export a particular product, I simply source/buy these products from local within and get it delivered to the buyer with the use of either NIPOST, EMS or DHL as the case may be. In other words, I buy from the local and sell to international clients.

2: HOW TO SOURCE FOR THESE PRODUCTS ONCE A REQUEST IS MADE

Sourcing or buying these agricultural products is not DIFFICULT as you might be thinking. In fact it’s the simplest stage of exportation. Each time I get any order from my Exportation Website, I already have standby local sellers within Nigeria to supply me that exact product(s).

3: PACKAGING AND SHIPPING

Packaging: Simply put it’s the process of re-branding your products either to meet international standard or customer need. The question is how do you package/seal your product(s)? There’re three ways you can go about this (1) You can decide to buy one of these little machines used for sealing products. You can get this in the market. (2) You can get a customize nylon bag for your product packaging. You can also contact one of these printing press for enquires and (3) Should in case you could not get any of these listed above, don’t forget that NIPOST, EMS, DHL FEDEX etc has their own customized nylon you can easily buy from their hand in the process of sending your package to destination. Personally, I use any of these depending of on the Buyer’s request. And peradventure I couldn’t get such products(s) from any of my existing suppliers I have other sources I get these products from like: Facebook Groups, Nairaland, WhatsApp Groups to look for sellers. It’s not possible you need any agricultural products and you wouldn’t get it either of these platforms mentioned above. So don’t even start thinking how you will source for the product once you receive an Order from international clients.

As a beginner in the Agro exportation business you might be thinking these two processes  are  difficult but there’re not. I’ll briefly explain each.

Shipping: Delivery these products to clients irrespective of country of destination is simple as ABC. Once you receive an Order lets say UK, all you have to do is after packaging, just walk down to any of your prefer Courier Company either NIPOST, EMS, DHL FEDEX etc and pay the required fees and your package will be deliver to the Buyer’s country within 1-7 days. Please note that the fee depends on (1) The Kilograms of the product and (2) Destination of the country. However, you can get to see these fees of their respective websites.

You also need.

YOU NEED AN AGRO EXPORTATION WEBSITE LIKE: http://www.cokodeal.com/

First, I will advise you take your time to navigates all the pages of above Exportation Website and see what it generally entails. This is the Exportation Website we use to make money in the Agro exportation business. Thus, you may already have a business website for Agro products, but the truth is that it will be quite different from the above. If you’re into agro exportation business then let people know you for that.

HOW TO GET FOREIGN BUYERS

Buying agents

Buying agents are procurement agents.

They represent businesses from other countries looking to procure the necessary resources.

Most foreign Buyers work based on research and knowledge that the resources they need is present in the country.

So they go about sourcing these resources.

You can contact their buying agents in Nigeria and let them know of your products.

Some of the private consultants can be buying agents for other countries in Nigeria since they know more of the markets than the companies abroad do.

Database of Foreign Buyers of Foodstuff Products:

Getting Contacts emails of Foodstuff products Buyers from different countries is another way of get customers online.

To every prospective buyer, write a letter introducing your companies, goods and quality specification, that you will package according to their requirements and don’t fail to quote the selling price and Payment terms acceptable

Online social communities

You can get busy on social media platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook.

I have seen people contact me on Facebook and LinkedIn from other countries about what product they have and how they’re looking for distributors for their products. Of course there are trust issues, but you should be able to approach people in such a way that it gets their attention.

A lot of things come to play when connecting with people on social media for the purpose of getting quality business network

You should be able to show your business is built with integrity.

So starting from you profile information, they all have to be up-to-date and genuine.

B2B MARKETPLACE (BUSINESS TO BUSINESS WEBSITE):

Sign up and List your products on these  B2B websites www.alibaba.com,www.tradekey.comwww.globalSource.comwww.globalworldSource.com,www.tradeford.com,www.exportindia.com,www.europe.bloombiz.com etc.

You can get some customers from there.

Online marketplace Portals

In the world of ecommerce, sourcing and connecting with businesses across the globe just got easier.

It seemed to be the easiest way to do business these days especially when you think of global trading.

Instead of travelling across the world to meet or connect with business people, you can do full business transactions and make your money.

The beautiful thing about these ecommerce marketplaces is; for a monthly subscription fee, they amass huge amount of traffic to your online store which helps you get more buyers to do more business

This is one of the critical areas of this business and this is the reason most people find exportation business very difficult simply because they don’t have Buyers’ Lists for their products.

LETTER OF CREDIT:

A commercial letter of credit is a guarantee from the issuing bank that the amount stated in the letter will be paid when certain conditions are met. A buyer of your goods obtains the letter from his bank before placing an order. The seller (which ia you in this case)of the goods verifies through his bank that the letter of credit is valid and then ships the buyer's order. The seller then takes the required documentation to the bank to collect his money on the letter of credit, the seller's bank(your bank) draws the money from the issuing bank, and the issuing bank

from the buyer.

letter of credit are the financial conduits for import or export. Once a buyer agrees to purchase a product from you, the buyer shows his good faith and financial ability to complete the purchase by obtaining the letter of credit. When the you verify the letter of credit is valid and available, you can proceed and ship the order. Neither side of transaction is dependent on the good faith of the other to fulfill its end of the contract. The bank issuing the letter of credit ensures both sides do their part so the goods are delivered and the money is paid.

Letter of credit is more secured for both the buyer and the seller.

Two banks are involved, the foreign bank and the local bank.

When you are sealing the agreement, you inform your bank here in Nigeria that you want them to be involved in your letter of credit.

They can give you a format of how they want the letter of credit to be done.

You can send the sample to the oversea buyer.

The oversea buyer raises the letter of credit and talk to his own bank abroad.

The letter of credit will now be sent to your own bank here in Nigeria.

Upon your bank receiving the letter of credit, it contacts and informs you that a copy of your letter of credit has been sent in your favour.

This gives you the confidence that you can send the goods and you will be paid.

But you must also make sure that you send the goods according to the specification of the buyer.

When you have sent the goods, you can take your document including the bill of laden to the bank.

How to deal with responses: A lot of response will be coming from some Nigerians and Africans that operates African shops in foreign Counties, because some of them are looking for foodstuffs distributors you may need to send free samples to some of them, while you make them chose the right packaging pattern for the product you are sending.
